Trashcan Sinatras – In The Music

Ultimately very pretty music to the ear, although there is a very eerie suspicious “Cliff Richard” influence going on somewhere (with maybe a hint of “Bryan Ferry”). The album is like a gentle breeze through the window.

There is nothing in the air that is going to disturb your thoughts, or make you think too hard. It’s just a relaxing time from opening (Cliff Richard-esque) number “People” right through to the funky Jazz of “I Wish You’d Met Her.”

As much as this gentle familiarity to music of the clean cut yesteryear rings true – through their country influences, up to the easy rock of the 60’s (yes including the Beatles) it only re-enforces the fact that their sound is quite dated. But that in today’s retro trade should only help them gain audiences of all ages as they are a sparkling alternative to the punk retro that is around.
