The Gaslight Anthem – The Backseat

In order to embolden the impact of their moodily melodic 2nd album, ‘The 59 Sound’, The Gaslight Anthem cuts straight to a chorus impact in their emotion twisting single, ‘The Backseat’. It represents straight edge, country tinge rock from the outset.

During the low-key, treading percussion climbing mid-song build is when the true range of front man, Brian Fallon can be appreciated. This harnesses the throb of some pulsing percussion and increases the impact of the nostalgia, romance and desperation mingling.

Fallon and his stirring band are developing into ranging rockers whose melody and rhythm is driven by their desire to vent frustration, without letting it take control. This is surely the cornerstone of gold old Rock N’ Roll?
