General Fiasco Announce Single & Tour

The Northern Ireland trio formed in 2007 and have spent the last two years writing and embarking on endless tours around the UK. Owen Strathern (vocals/bass) and his brother Enda Strathern (guitars) met Stephen Leacock (drums) at school and bonded over a love of music. Their first gig was a local festival which gave them the taste for playing outdoors and they’ve gone on to play Reading and Leeds Festivals in 2008 and Download and Glastonbury this year. A 7” single – ‘Rebel Get by’ released by indie label Another Music = Another Kitchen picked up radio play from the likes of Zane Lowe, Steve Lamacq, Sara Cox and was playlisted at XFM. After a spot on the BBC Introducing stage at Reading and Leeds they were invited to play at the Electric Proms and Jo Whiley invited them onto the Little Noise Sessions. ‘Something Sometime’ released earlier this year on their own label gained more support across the media, including being Zane Lowe’s ‘Hottest Record In the World’ and led to them signing a deal with Infectious Records.

General Fiasco are currently putting the final touches to their debut album due for release in the new year, this was recorded by Neal Calderwood at Manor Park Studios in Northern Ireland.

‘We Are The Foolish’ is an ideal introduction to the band that showcases General Fiasco’s ability to craft the perfect pop song without ever falling into cliché. The cry of ”You Better Wake up., Wake Up” is sure to burrow into your consciousness – as Owen point out “We wanted to put this out because of the response it gets live. Even if they've never heard it before people are singing it by the end. We can't wait till even more people know it at the shows.”
