The Parlotones
The Parlotones kicked off their professional career in 2003, rising to the forefront of South African music by 2006 when they signed a European license deal on the back of their debut single beautiful being used in a Fujifilm commercial.
Since then, The Parlotones have become the biggest selling band in South Africa. Key performances include Live Earth, Coke Fest and V Fest. Key acknowledgements include Best Rock Album 2006 at South African Music Awards, Best Music Act – People’s Choice Awards 2008, Best Band – You Awards 2007, FHM Readers Choice 2007, Best Video MK Awards 2007, Best Video nomination Resfest 2007. The Parlotones latest album is already platinum in South Africa.
Audiences watching The Parlotones are swept up in a whirlwind of energy and rock orchestrated by front man Kahn Morbee. Not adverse to experimentation, the band merges innovative and authentic ideas into a comprehensive sound, which lends itself to mammoth live performances, the likes of which audiences have rarely seen.
Plus
The Circus Sands
Taking their name from a line in Dylan's 'Mr Tambourine Man', The Circus Sands are gaining a reputation as one of the most exciting and sought after new bands, distorted guitars, sleazy basslines and pulsating drumbeats are what you can expect to witness as they rip through their live show at ear shattering volume…Not to be missed.
The Charlie Parkers
Following their summer relaunch as a three piece band, the boys have taken a new direction musically; a shift that has excited their old fans and already picked them up a whole host of new ones.
Koko promoters ‘The Playground’ recently described them as “One of our favourites” and lebelled their new live show as “Explosive Indie”.
The line up is composed of Beaz on bass, Jam on guitar and Dan on drums; all the boys sing and the Parkers have forged a reputation as an impressive live act bursting with energy, unfathomably strong musicianship and most importantly a raft of killer tunes…
