Lily Allen May Quit Music

Sensational loud-mouth singer Lily Allen has declared she has no future plans to pursue a career in music. Taking to her recently created 'It's Not Alright' blog, Lily explains that “I have not re-negotiated my record contract and have no plans to make another record.”

The 'Fear' singer has come under incredible scrutiny from the press, gossip columnists and bloggers the world over, in particular from gossip site Perez Hilton. Addressing these pressures she also states that “slagging me, my music and my so called “family connections” off, and calling me a government puppet is not going to get anyone anywhere, so stop it”.

Allen had recently set up a blog in an effort to combat music piracy and illegal downloading and states that “I am just standing up for what I believe in and I want to listen to peoples thoughts/opinions on the matter”. The blog has garnered attention with big names like Mika, Patrick Wolf and Alesha Dixon backing her efforts. She explains that “I think people assume we as artists are a lot richer than you think we are, please bear in mind this [decision] doesn't have anything to do with me or my wealth”.

Lily has had unprecedented success with her first two albums, the second 'It's Not Me, It's You' coming straight in at number one, along with a number one single, in the UK charts earlier this year. The album has had a huge promotional tour, which is still running until Christmas of this year.

The singer is not shedding the limelight altogether as she recently revealed a starring role in the West End stage production of Neil LaBute's Tony-nominated play 'Reasons To Be Pretty' in 2010.

Concluding her blog post, Allen added that “the days of me making money from recording music has been and gone as far as I'm concerned, so I don't (at this point) stand to profit from legislation. Except future purchases of previously recorded material (which wont be much)”.
