Brimming with artful yearning and shape-throwing beats, Five Metres Apart is the new single from Stricken City, released 28th September.
A tumbling piece of art-pop, Five Metres Apart is the lead single from Stricken City’s long awaited debut mini-album Songs About People I Know and is backed with the genius Gold Panda's remix of previous single Lost Art and Skellington's remix of future classic Pull The House Down.
Released on Puregroove Records on 12th October, Stricken City’s debut is variously produced by Jeremy Warmsley (Killing Time / Small Things), Ian Davenport (PS / Five Metres Apart / Pull The House Down), Andy from Tin Can Telephone (Terrible Things), and the band themselves (Gifted / Sometimes I Love You). The album encapsulates Stricken City’s early development into fine purveyors of alternative pop and has already picked up recommendations from Huw Stephens at BBC Radio 1, and John Kennedy and Jon Hilcock at XFM.
Resplendent in a 6” deluxe gatefold sleeve, the music is accompanied by a self-produced DVD including a live performance sequence Videos About Songs About People I Know captured on atmospheric VHS at London’s House Of Strange studios; a series of tour films Films About Places I Know shot on Super8 over the past twelve months; and the acclaimed promo video from the band’s last single Lost Art, which at once paid homage to Talking Heads and challenged the band to create something unique and enduring on the most limited of budgets.
** The album will receive a vinyl and CD release in the US on The Kora Records label on November 3rd, with an autumn tour of the states to be announced **
Having recently toured the UK with Maximo Park, Stricken City last year clocked up playlists at XFM and NME Radio – as well as support from Radio 1 and 6Music – with their singles Tak O Tak and Lost Art, released through the influential ACTH and Blue Flowers labels.
