Mama’s Gun – Routes To Riches

Front man Andy Platts delivers a funky record that will appeal to more than a few fans with sounds reminiscent of say Jamiroquai, Maroon 5 and just a little bit of Stevie Wonder.

The latter comes out heavily in the album’s single “You Are The Music” which goes way back into Wonder’s funkier days which Platts crafts (along with his writing partners) a pastiche that will take you right back to the soul of disco.

Whilst there are modernisms here the album can’t help but reflect on the past fusing Jazz and disco beats together to form something that seems almost taken out from that time its self. It’s an accurate portrayal of music from this Era and is kept relevant for today’s audience.

One can only wonder if this trick pays off and leads Platts and his band along the road to power and glory.
