Paramore – Ignorance

Hayley Williams should by rights still be borrowing money of her family members, visiting the mall and buying questionably coloured slush’s in yesterdays slogan t-shirt. Instead, she has became a pin-up for the emotional skateboarder, an idol to the hair-dyed and an inspiration to any one who is young and dreaming, all at the tender age of 20.

“Ignorance” is taken from Paramore’s third album Brand New Eyes and combines a refreshing cynicism and joyful maturity into a song that’s neither pop, emo or rock, but something new, something auspicious. Though, the music doesn’t propel much higher than the youth-induced racket that was Riot! there is a palpable devastation in Williams vocal delivery; behind her looks of a twisted angel and her obviously well-developed vocal range she has found a steadiness and arrogance in her well-crafted lyrics that leaves clichés cut up and barriers broken.

The pretenders to her throne as Princess of Emo will copy her long into her reign, fans will shape there hair in her honour, but, such is the importance and readiness of her name, there will only ever be one Hayley Williams, thus there only ever being one Paramore!

Ignorance is not bliss, but it’s pretty darn close.
