This double A single of ‘Dead Bees’ and ‘Brave The Strom’ marks the third release by Graham Coxon from his album ‘The Spinning Top’.
‘Dead Bees’ is somewhat of a puzzle to listen to. From the outset it sounds to be an everyday indie/folk styled tune with a steady beat that isn’t very intriguing. However as it continues, the music alters to a point of utter distraction where nothing seems to fit together in unity as it did at the start. It is like listening to a few clear verses of a song before someone scratches the CD and it is no longer in sync. ‘Brave The Storm’ has a similar style of music just presented in a much more delicate and appropriate way. The acoustic setting really suits the style of vocals well. Even with duration just over five minutes it is a peaceful tune to sit back and take in. The latter of the two is certainly the preferred.
