Keith Allen is set to play a gig with his 12-piece band in Leeds to raise awareness for the city’s refuse collectors, who are currently on strike.
The actor and father of Lily Allen will play the O2 Academy Leeds on October 18. Refuse collection workers in the city are taking industrial action over proposed pay cuts which Allen and the campaigners oppose.
Unions are claiming that some refuse collectors could face pay cuts of up to £6,000 each, reports the Yorkshire Evening Post. Councillor Richard Brett called the figure “misleading”, saying that due to pay protection, salaries would not be affected for another 18 months if the cuts went ahead.
Middleman and Skint & Demoralised are also on the bill for the event.
