Roundhouse To Showcase New Talent At The Emerging Proms

The Roundhouse is pleased to announce the launch of this year’s Roundhouse Emerging Proms taking place between Monday 26th – Thursday 29th October across Camden’s finest venues. Now in its second year, the Emerging Proms has quickly positioned itself as a vibrant platform for new and bright talent from across the UK, and an essential part of the Roundhouse’s year round programme of events aimed to support its social mission of nurturing, developing and promoting young talent.

The Emerging Proms was created to give innovative, upcoming acts the chance to be heard in established London venues supported by exciting new promoters working in tandem with the Roundhouse. Each night one of London’s breakthrough promoters will be curating a venue including the Roundhouse Studio Theatre, The Enterprise, Barfly and Dingwalls.

The opening night features five of the best acts from the Roundhouse music project, ‘3030’. Taking place throughout September, one standout act per day received studio time and the opportunity to work with top producers including Pink Floyd’s Nick Mason. Indie rockers Hunting Bears, eclectic Ghosts You Echo, singer-songwriter Joel Bailey, folk-influenced Hella Better Dancer and funk rap talent Cynikal will all kick-off this unique event.

Tuesday sees the turn of the promoters behind the Turning Point Festival which was organised entirely by under 25 year olds in May 2009. Turning Point was a sell-out success, boasting the likes of Mercury Award winning Speech Debelle, chart-topping Tinchy Stryder and indie favourites The Noisettes.

Dave Gaydon, Head of Music at the Roundhouse said, “The Roundhouse has a year round commitment to educational and participative music programming which is engaging young people. Following Turning Point festival and new music project 3030, we’re delighted to be working with London’s most exciting new talent to create a music platform that will host acts from across the UK in the Roundhouse and across Camden.”

Since reopening in 2006, the Roundhouse has helped over 15,000 under 25s through its programme of creative projects. With fully-equipped studios, it is a vital centre of music that provides a brilliant venue for audiences as well as a crucial hub of training. The Roundhouse Emerging Proms is another extension of the organisation’s social mission – to nurture, develop and promote young talent.
