‘There are listed buildings’ is the sound of the quirky-as-you-like outfit Los Campasinos! shambling through three minutes of loose indie, the vocals tremble with nervous energy accompanied by equally skittish guitar, full of the sort of eccentric charm that’s been rendered trite by some of the genre’s bigger names but remains disarming when done convincingly; it is here. The production is excellent, exploiting effectively the start/stop, quiet/loud dynamics on which the song relies. This is exactly what you want from an indie-label A-side, it’s easy on the ears pop that comes and goes, and pleases in between.
