Pama International Announce Tour Dates & The Special's Support Slot

With a number of UK tours under their belts and a summer full of festival performances Pama International now prepare for a full national tour including a fistful of dates supporting The Specials.

Following the phenomenal success of The Specials reformation, and ahead of another string of sold-out UK dates by the 2 Tone legends, The Specials guitarist and vocalist Lynval Golding is delighted that his new side project Pama International are joining them on tour to support the release of their forthcoming album 'Pama Outernational’ on 2nd November:

“2009 has been a truly fantastic year” enthused Golding, “The reaction from fans to The Specials reforming has been overwhelming. I can't thank the fans enough for their support this year. People keep asking me about new Specials material. I'm currently just enjoying the shows and working with the guys again. Pama International gives me the creative freedom and musical outlet for new material. It takes me back to my roots of 70s reggae & dub and mashes it with 60's soul. There's no pressure, we can let the music speak for itself”

Golding's collaboration with Pama International founders, keyboardist Sean Flowerdew & singer Finny, dates back some 17 years, and he recently teamed back up with them to write and record the album 'Pama Outernational’. The album also features fellow Specials band mate Sir Horace Panter and has been co-produced by Flowerdew and the man behind The Specials iconic 'Ghost Town', John Collins. It includes contributions from Lenny Bignell (Lord Large), Fuzz Townshend (Bentley Rhythm Ace/Pop Will Eat Itself) and Gary Alesbrook (Kasabian).

'Pama Outernational' album is released on the Rockers Revolt label on 2nd November '09 and is preceded by the single 'I Still Love You More' out on 26th October '09. With its infectious soul-fuelled reggae groove, it’s a track equally at home in the Wigan Casino, in the dancehalls of Jamaica and on drivetime radio. On the B-side you have a heavyweight rockers stomper that is ‘Equality & Justice for all.’

As for the album, it is lovingly crafted by a band who shamelessly hold their influences high, King Tubby & Lee Perry's dub stylings meet the soul sounds of 1960's Stax whilst maintaining a social commentary cemented in the modern world.”I love the new album” continued Golding, “it's the icing on the cake of what's been an unforgettable year.”
