Sreven Wilson - NSRGNTS RMXS
Album Review

Sreven Wilson – NSRGNTS RMXS

NSRGNTS RMXS is one of those albums that you’d think you’d only buy as a hard core fan. That or a pill head. Not that it is a bad LP, more that it is a bit of a cop out. The original Insurgents album released earlier this year was great, and Steven Wilson should have been proud to put his name on it. This however is more of a lets re-release it and see if we can have as much success as Thom Yorke and Nine Inch Nails when they did it.

Kudos to the winner of the competition on line that got his track on there. It is more than half decent, as are the other remixes; it’s just that it’s not going to make Steven Wilson a huge name to get behind the decks at the launch party of a great club. He’ll be the background noise to the great DJ, the man the DJ thanks but knows that the artist should be thanking him.

If all of the tracks were re-done then it would be easier to fathom, but there are repeats of songs, great in their own right, but an unnecessary hassle to listen to in your bedroom. Put the ipod on shuffle and it’s fine, but there’s some spark that I must have obviously missed with the minimal hype behind it.
If I were you I’d listen to this on spotify or buy a couple of tracks, but stick to the original release.
