“A mini epic – it’s good to have them back” – The Guardian
“Never fails to stir” – NME
“Destined to stamp their presence emphatically back on the musical map” – The Fly
The Northwestern have announced details of the release of a new EP, The Ghostrock EP, through their newly formed record label Bloodbank Records on Monday 16th November 2009.
The 4-track EP includes the tracks What Did I Do, Ghosts on VHS, House Of Bees & Redthreads which were recorded with long time production collaborator James Loughrey at Bryn Derwen studios in Bethesda, Wales during the summer of 2009.
The EP is their 2nd release, following their debut double A-sided single, All The Ones / Telephones, which was released in June of this year.
Born from Sam Herlihy & Simon Jones’s (respectively frontman and drummer of The Northwestern) former band Hope of the States, who released a brace of critically and commercially successful albums, The Northwestern formed on the South Coast in late 2008.
Although feeling distinct and new, the majesty and song-writing nouse that marked them out in their former incarnation still shines through in The Northwestern. Currently writing and demo-ing songs at their studios in Chichester, the band plan to release their debut album in the first-half of 2010.
The band, who completed a short UK tour in the summer recently supported the Editors at their homecoming show and as a result were the first band ever to play the newly refurbished 02 Academy in Birmingham. The Northwestern are also set to announce a number of tour dates and high profile support slots around the EP release.
The Northwestern are: Sam Herlihy (vocals & guitar), Simon Jones (drums). Francesco Menegat (bass), Jonny Winter (guitar) & Ian Macullagh (guitar).
