Snow Patrol - Just Say Yes
Album Review

Snow Patrol – Just Say Yes

This is probably the nearest to techno that Snow Patrol will ever come. In something of a departure for the Scots/ Irish band, Just Say Yes opens with an energetic keyboard intro before the familiar voice of Gary Lightbody kicks in. The single has a lighter feel than much of Snow Patrol’s previous output, and is getting a great deal of radio play at present.

Lyrically, the song tells of unrequited love in a simple yet elegant way. “Just say yes, just say there’s nothing holding you back/ It’s not a test, nor a trick of the mind/ Only love” The pleading continues with “For God’s sake, dear” being repeated over a growing instrumental crescendo before the chorus is repeated once more. Just Say Yes may not sell as well as Chasing Cars, but it is sure to be a big hit. And the instrumental version on the CD single is well worth a listen too.
