16 years and 22 compilation albums into its existence, Gatecrasher is one of the biggest brands in dance music and this three-CD set covers quite broadly the biggest hits of the club’s long reign.
Things start appropriately enough with the euphoria of Faithless’ ‘God is a dj’, followed up by a succession of great club tracks, with old classics like Kernkraft 400’s ‘Zombie nation’ tossed into the mix. CD 2 ups the ante with anthems certain to strike chords with even the the least dance-inclined punters, including Armand Van Helden’s infectious ‘Professional widow’ mix and Freemason’s ‘Love on my mind’.
The final part of the trilogy is more of the same, and concludes an exhaustive selection of the biggest anthems since Gatecrasher’s inception. The broadness of this compilation’s scope and the frequency of universally familiar songs make it a good starting point for a genre novice, or a worthy investment for the casual listener.
