Little Boots - Academy
Live Review

Little Boots – Academy, Dublin

Little boots shone like a bright UV light at her debut Irish gig in the Academy lastnight, November 27. The pint-sized popstar wowed the sold-out venue with offerings from her debut album, ‘Hands’, accompanied by an intricate light show.

The mixed crowd of adults and teenagers responded immensely well to the singer, chanting along to her songs. Little Boots, real name Victoria, showed excellent charisma and stage presence, being at natural at interacting with the crowd.

There was certainly nothing little about her performance which included her three singles to date ‘New In Town’, ‘Earthquake’ and ‘Remedy’.

The stage comprised of various synths and drums, spotlights, Little Boots’ signature Tenori-On, UV lights and even a glowing faux metal skull overlooking the entire performance.

The singer opened with ‘Ghost’, while songs like ‘Mathematics’ and ‘Hearts Collide’ were surprisingly enticing played live, seeing as they are more lesser well-known album tracks.
Little Boots also treated the crowd to a performance of a brand new track, ‘echoes’, inspired by the Twilight book series, to round off the set.

The performance ended with a stripped down version of ‘Stuck On Repeat’ with Little Boots alone on keyboard, which suddenly halfway through turned into a thumping electronic delight, morphing into the up-tempo album version.

All in all, the gig was an exciting and energetic hit, definitely cementing the singer as one of the breakout acts and standout performers of 2009.
