The Jim Jones Revue explode into 2010 with a flurry of activity that kicks off with a ringing endorsement from Mojo magazine and a full page feature that tips the London based powerhouse qunitet as one of the bands to watch in 2010 and hailing them as: “A depraved merging of screaming vocals rama-lama-lama riffing and Georgia Peach-styled pounding piano runs.”
We are also delighted to announce that The JJR will be headlining The Mojo Club at The Jazz Café on Thursday 4 February, a spring tour of the UK and Ireland and a slot at the forthcoming SXSW gathering in Texas.
Somehow in between all this The ‘Revue will be recording their new album with Jim Sclavunos from The Bad Seeds/Grinderman in the production seat at Assault & Battery 2 studios in late February.
2010 looks set to follow the remarkable success The Jim Jones Revue enjoyed in 2009 – a year that saw them hit the ground running on the back of the release towards the end of 2008 of their self-titled debut album and the subsequent singles collection Here To Save Your Soul. Among many highlights in 2009 was a support slot with The Dead Weather at the
personal invitation of Jack White in October, selling out every headlining London show they played (The 100 Club, Cargo, Barfly and Madam Jo Jo’s), numerous national live radio sessions (Marc Riley, Mark Lamarr, Tom Robinson and XFM’s John Kennedy) and a relentless European live schedule that saw The ‘Revue play shows, festivals and tours in the UK, France, Spain, Holland, Germany, Sweden, Portugal, Slovenia, Ireland, Belgium,
Norway and Bulgaria.
Among the JJR fan base, more well known converts include the afore mentioned Jack White (White Stripes, The Raconteurs & The Dead Weather), Steve Lamacq (BBC radio), Mick Jones (The Clash, Big Audio Dynamite & Carbon Silicon), Chris Robinson (The Black Crowes), Tony James (Generation X, Sigue Sigue Sputnik & Carbon Silicon), Bobby Gillespie (Primal Scream), Noel Gallagher (Oasis), Jim Scalvunos (Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds & Grinderman), Jon Spencer (Jon Spencer Blues Explosion & Heavy Trash), Bob Harris (BBC Radio 2) and Gem Archer (Oasis).
Witness the sonic brutality of The Jim Jones Revue at The Mojo at The Jazz Café in London on Thursday 4 February and across the UK & Ireland in March and April.
