Live at Leeds 2010 was launched with a bang back in January where we were promised the best festival yet – both in line-up and diversity. Over 150 bands are planned to play the main day on Saturday 1st May across a huge 17 stages across Leeds City Centre.
Organisers at Futuresound have been steadily teasing us with announcements since then starting with the confirmation of Leeds based headliners WILD BEASTS; writers of one of the albums of last year, and of the last decade according to the NME, ‘Two Dancers’.
Week on week more bands have been announced through the website at link where over 4000 avid live music fans have already signed up for instant confirmations through the website or on the Facebook group: Live at Leeds 2010.
With two months to go over a third of the final bands have now been announced, including the acts that will open and close the event either side of the main event on Saturday 1st May.
Recent winners of the prestigious Philip Hall Radar award at the NME awards, THE DRUMS will be kicking off the Live at Leeds 2010 weekend at The Cockpit on Friday 30th April (£10 adv). Previous winners of the NME honour have been The Big Pink and Glasvegas. The New Yorkers are tipped for big things in 2010 and with no summer tour planned (although we’re sure they’ll be on the festival circuit) this will be the only chance to see them at a gig of their own up north this year.
On Saturday 1st May over 150 acts will take to 17 stages over Leeds City Centre. Key venues for Live at Leeds 2010 include Leeds’ legendary live music venue The Cockpit, Leeds Metropolitan University, The Faversham, The Well and Brudenell Social Club. Added venues for 2010 include Nation of Shopkeepers, Leeds University (Stylus, Refectory and Mine), Leeds College of Music and The Wardrobe.
Wristbands for the day are priced at just £15, acts confirmed so far are:
