fun. – Walking The Dog

Oh fun.! What a band, such a nonchalant feeling to the album and this debut single ‘Walking the Dog’ is just as great. Vampire Weekend-esque guitars and a real fun (no pun intended) feeling song, think a New York based Good Shoes.

A boy band key change and tempo changes mid song, bringing in the Boys of Summer (a la Don Henley/The Ataris) and returning to the innuendo-filled Latino feeling disco beat pop full of hand claps and sing-alongs, the way it should be. It makes for a great listen if you’re in the right mood…I can imagine if not or if you’re not a fan of the Format/Anathallo/Steel Train you might miss the light hearted intentions of the song, and see it more as a girls and boys in love nursery rhyme. Well worth a listen though!

Be calm, the B side has a slightly French feeling as Walking the Dog had a Spanish one. The track is a definite grower, a tale of woe and multiple tempos, it sound like it stepped straight out of a Disney movie, but sheer brilliance all the same!
