Jimi Hendrix – Bleeding Heart

Bleeding Heart (out now on download) is Hendrix’s blazing cover of the classic blues song by Elmore James.

Originally recorded in April 1969, this studio recording featuring Jimi, Billy Cox and drummer Rocky Isaac, has never been released – until now.

John McDermott (Producer of ‘Valleys of Neptune’) comments on the track after the bands studio session, ‘Bleeding Heart’ ‘is confidently sung by Hendrix and punctuated by his inspired lead guitar work. “Let’s listen to that!” laughed Hendrix after the take concluded’.

Additionally, the iconic film director Julien Temple has made the video to accompany this single. Temple is noted for his work with talents such as The Rolling Stones, Sex Pistols, David Bowie, Kinks, Neil Young, Tom Petty and Janet Jackson, as well as his work on feature films including ‘The Great Rock 'N' Roll Swindle’, ‘The Rolling Stones Live at The Max’ and ‘The Filth & The Fury’.

This release is in conjunction with the newly curated ‘Valleys of Neptune’ featuring twelve stunning studio recordings. The album provides an essential, compelling, and largely unseen view of what Jimi Hendrix was up to musically in the critical period between the release of Electric Ladyland in October 1968 and the 1970 opening of his own Electric Lady Studios in Greenwich Village.
