The Jessie Rose Trip – You Won’t Forget Me Boy

This is just the kind of pop music I could really love to cherish. It’s stupidly catchy and wouldn’t sound inappropriate on Radio 1, however that’s not to say it’s all lip-gloss and sonic polish. In fact this is quite a raunchy little number, quite Winehouse fronting the Zutons with lairy riffs and wiry vocals. It’s a confident pop song from a band who’ve been around for a few years figuring out just how to write this kind of material. Now they’ve got it licked, the next few months will be very interesting.

It’s too easy to say this track sounds like a Noisettes belter, however it does, not least because it’s a song with a passionate female lead vocal, but mainly because it’s such a well rounded track made by a band thinking and working together as a band. It’s not a frilly girl-pop song, it’s a meaty, manly, Yorkie chocolate bar of a song.
