River Rat Pack Present An Easter All Dayer Featuring Mumford and Sons

Are Easter Sundays all about church and chocolate eggs? No. In our world our church is Paradise and the chocolate is the fine music we indulge ourselves with.

On Sunday 4th April, Paradise, By Way of Kensal Green opens its doors to an Easter All-Dayer hosted by River Rat Pack, the now infamous summer travelling canal parties. With a stunning line up including the fabulous Mumford & Sons playing a very rare DJ set, plus live sets from Eliza Doolittle and Babe Shadow with more still to be announced. This is the first in a series of parties to be held at Paradise by host River Rat Pack and one not to be missed.

Mumford & Sons are currently one of the hottest bands in the country, having released their debut album Sigh No More late last year to critical acclaim and a top 10 chart position, plus subsequent sold out shows at Shepherds Bush Empire and across the country. The West London based boys create a gutsy, old-time sound that marries the magic of Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young with the might of Kings Of Leon, and their incredible energy draws us in quickly to their circle of songs, to the warmth of their stories, and to their magical community of misty-eyed men. And so this rare DJ set from them will be an excitingly eclectic affair and one to be fully enjoyed.

Playing live is the gorgeous Eliza Doolittle who recently signed to Parlophone, releasing her debut EP in December last year, quickly became adored by the likes of Rob da Bank, Jo Whiley and Nick Grimshaw. With her next single Skinny Gene’s is released on the 29th March, and her album set for a spring release plus an upcoming UK tour supporting Alphabeat, this is a great chance to see Eliza in an intimate setting before she blows big. Also playing live are Babe Shadow, another band tipped for big things, who are about to support Florence & The Machine on her UK tour.

All these artists are part of the River Rat Pack family, having been involved in their canal tours over the last couple of summers or booked to play this summer’s tour. Starting in the summer of 2008 the River Rat Pack got their hands on a barge and like a travelling circus, they gathered their friends and fellow bands and dj’s together to sail from London to Oxford playing free gigs and parties along the way over a week in September. They’ve had a who’s who of upcoming talent to perform and travel with them, some of whom have gone on to be big, such as Mumford & Sons who were the first band to ever play for River Rat Pack, The Kooks, Jay Jay Pistolet and Josh Weller with last years line up including SixNationState, Nat Jenkins, Beans on Toast, Wild Wolves and The Agitator.

So join us on this day, the first of many, to indulge your senses and be enlightened by what you hear. Amen.
