Fortune – Bully

Following up their lauded debut single ‘Highway’, which garnered praise across the board, Fortune open their account in 2010 with their effortlessly infectious second single ‘Bully’ released through Distiller Records on April 5th.

It will already be known to you as the instrumental music which has featured in a TV ad for an electrical high street retailer for the last few months.

Featuring the best the Parisian music scene has to offer, Fortune are multi-instrumentalist Lionel Pierres, a former band-mate of Tepr, Pierre Lucas rocking the synths, Hervé Loos on drums and Perrick Devin, who cut his teeth playing with Phoenix, Alex Gopher and Etienne De Crécy, on bass, guitar and synths. Together they have recorded their much anticipated debut album ‘Staring At The Ice Melt’ from which ‘Bully’ is taken.

An indelibly effervescent stomp, from its opening snare beat Bully burst into life like an undiscovered Gallic-pop meets Motown gem that is sure to work its way into your head and all the way down to your feet. B-side manoeuvres come in the form of ‘Mission’ a spiky guitar driven slice of post punk-funk that has become a firm live favourite.

The remix package delves deep into dancefloor terrirtory kicking off with a hefty retooling from Alaska’s finest Curtis Vodka whose remixes for the likes of Uffie have got booties shaking and tongues wagging. Tom Neville comes correct with some late night manipulations delivering a deliciously full vocal mix. The much admired Snack & C’mish turn in another super-funky jam and DJ Sega dives deep into the drum groove, whilst the package is rounded off by the blissful M83 who turn their attentions to Mission with predictably rapturous results.

‘Bully’ is released on April 5th and will be followed by Fortune’s debut album ‘Staring At The Ice Melt’ on April 12th.
