You Me At Six – Liquid Confidence

The third single to be taken from ‘Hold Me Down’, ‘Liquid Confidence’ shows another dimension to the British five-piece YouMeAtSix. Already poised to dominate the music scene in 2010, with a main stage slot at the Reading and Leeds festivals lined up, this song is bound to win them further acclaim.

While the other two releases are typical of the band’s signature pop-punk tunes but with a heavier, darker edge, this track showcases a more mature, emotional facet to their abilities. The lyrics and structure show skill which surpasses the formulaic songs of other bands within the same genre.

The melodic, gently-strummed opening builds to a chorus that’s incredibly raw and heartfelt, especially coming from such a young act. The recurring harmony reflect their ability to perform as a talented whole, rather than five able individuals competing for attention – further demonstrated by the inclusion of a beautiful instrumental version of the song.

Youmeatsix have it all – talent, looks, youth and success – and, as this release shows, they still have plenty of potential, too
