Over the many years AFI has been circulating the music scene they have changed, grown and adapted their sound, as do many artists. However, from their original hardcore punk sound this new release is so very tame in comparison. It only feels distinctly still an AFI track because of Davey Havok’s unmissable vocals.
Coming from their album ‘Crash Love’ released late last year, which is full of tracks that really do show growth and maturity in the band. This album shows a journey of them opting for a more mainstream approach and gaining a more rock feel.
However, this latest track isn’t the greatest choice on the album for a single, a song which could be labelled an album filler perhaps.
It’s rather disappointing for anyone who is a particularly big fan of AFI… you certainly won’t be getting something that is as epic as their other releases.
