Baltimore trio Double Dagger kick off their UK tour in May. Using deceptively simple instrumentation (bass, drums, vocals), Double Dagger make a cacophonous wall of sound that has been occasionally described as 'very loud' or 'angry' pop. Part Fugazi, part No Age, part Shellac, their sound is aggressive, minimalist punk, that still maintains an underlying pop melodiousness.
You can catch one of their intense live shows at the following UK venues in May…
Wed 12 Nottingham Spanky Van Dykes (w/Friendship)
Thu 13 Leeds Nation Of Shopkeepers (w/Friendship)
Fri 14 Sheffield Bungalows and Bears (w/Friendship)
Sat 15 London The Rest Is Noise (w/Friendship)
Sun 16 Bristol Start the Bus (w/Friendship)
Mon 17 Cardiff Arts Centre
Tue 18 London Cargo (w/Ganglians and Real Estate)
Wed 19 Dublin Whelans
Double Dagger's new CD/LP 'Masks' was released on 22 March 2010 through legendary label Thrill Jockey and features limited edition packaging designed by Nolen Strals (vocals) and Bruce Willen’s (bass, vocals) own design studio, Post Typography. The LP and CD each come in three different covers, all with custom die-cut jackets printed as different mask drawings with “eyes” that change color depending on the orientation of the CD or LP sleeve. The EP was recorded by the band using a necessarily DIY setup and manages to capture the loudness and energy of Double Dagger's explosive live performances.
