Recoil – Selected
Formerly of Depeche Mode, Alan Wilder has had his Recoil project since the late 80’s. This is essentially a mastered best of collection of selected songs. A largely electronic experimentation band that have diversified themselves over the years.
Featuring guest vocalists like Curve’s Toni Halliday, Nitzer Ebb’s Doug McCarthy, Joe Richardson, Samantha Coerbell and Maggie Estep – the selection here is wide and fruitful.
Listeners get the chance to see what waters Wilder has treaded during and aqfter his time with Depeche Mode. It’s interesting that early tracks like Faith Healer and Edge To life have instilled a staying power.
The later work displays Wilder’s own progression through the electronic arts as a songwriter and a sound engineer. Recoil deserves its place at the table along with the likes of Massive Attack, Moby and Dean Garcia among many of the electro-ambient.
