Hotly tipped rockers YOUNG GUNS have served up the first taste of their highly anticipated forthcoming debut album, ‘All Our Kings Are Dead’, with ‘Sons Of Apathy’, the albums lead single and opening track.
The track received its first airing exclusively on Daniel P Carter’s Radio 1 Rock Show last night. A radio edit of the track was then made available to buy immediately on iTunes. Then, on May 31st the album version of the track will be released alongside a cover of Weezer classic ‘Say It Aint So’ and a stripped down version of ‘There Will Be Rain’.
Speaking of ‘Sons Of Apathy’, frontman Gustav Wood says, “The song is about my feelings growing up without a father figure, how I was and am, very directly a son of apathy, and also how I feel that as a generation, we are very much lacking in positive role models to follow.”
“With that in mind,” he continues, “the song is me trying to say that it doesn't have to be a negative experience. Instead of being lost, we are spared from any pre-determined direction or expectation, the lack of a father figure not being a burden, but rather a gift, an illustration of the kind of person to strive to be/not to be. Instead of being held back, we are set free. It sums up the overall feeling of the record for me, and actually contains the album’s title in it's first verse.”
