Canadian dance-punks You Say Party! We Say Die! have been left shattered by news that their drummer Devon Clifford has passed away.
Set to return later this year with their new album, You Say Party! We Say Die! recently completed a tour of their homeland. The Canadian group were enjoying re-connecting with their fans, debuting new material from their soon to be released second album.
However shortly after completing a show in Vancouver drummer Devon Clifford collapsed onstage. Rushed to hospital from The Rickshaw Theater, the musician apparently suffered a brain haemorrhage.
With band mates, friends, family and fans obviously in concern it seems that Clifford has lost his health battle. You Say Party! We Say Die! have released a statement confirming that the drummer has passed away.
Just thirty years old, Devon Clifford underwent emergency neuro-surgery and was placed on life support. However this wasn't enough to help the drummer, who died on Sunday morning (April 18th).
The band's label Paper Bag have offered a simple tribute to Devon Clifford:
“It is with absolute sadness to report that our dear friend Devon Clifford passed away just hours ago in a Vancouver hospital surrounded by his family and friends. He will be deeply missed by everyone who knew him. I request that we respect the family's privacy during this incredibly difficult time.”
Meanwhile, You Say Party! We Say Die! have updated their Twitter account:
