Back in the ’07, with winning single ‘Morden’ – and numerous big-name support slots – under their belt, Kingston four-piece Good Shoes looked set for big things in the indie world. Big things, unfortunately, never really materialised for the outfit, but this four-track finds them still on fighting form.
The opener and title track is a good place to start, a shambling indie-rock joint with an early Libertines sort of vibe about it. The other three tracks are more of the same, all endowed with a great rock n roll energy sure to keep the group’s fanbase happy.
Pick of the bunch is the aggressive, stop-start ‘Run Away With Me’, which breaks into a pleasingly melodic, bittersweet chorus.
The hype may have died but the songs are still coming and this is a pretty satisfying effort.
