We’re excited to announce that The Primitives now been added to the Indietracks 2010 line-up.
They will join New York headliners the Pains Of Being Pure At Heart, Love Is All, Ballboy, The Pooh Sticks, White Town, Allo Darlin’, Veronica Falls and dozens more indiepop bands at this year’s festival, which takes place on 23-25 July 2010. The festival is held in the grounds of a picturesque 1950s steam railway in Derbyshire.
The Primitives emerged from the independent scene of the mid-80s, alongside The Jesus and Mary Chain, Primal Scream, My Bloody Valentine and The Wedding Present. With the distinctive singing and blonde bombshell looks of singer Tracy Tracy, they combined 60s melodies, the buzzsaw guitars of the Ramones and the pop sensibilities of Orange Juice.
Their career was boosted when Morrissey named them his favourite band. A widely acclaimed debut album, ‘Lovely’, presented them with the international hit single ‘Crash’, which reached the top five in the UK charts. The band reunited at the end of 2009 and toured the UK to ecstatic reviews in April 2010. This is now a chance to catch them at one of the UK’s most popular small festivals.
Around 50 indiepop bands from across the globe will be playing across four stages: the outdoor stage; the indoor stage, the church and on the steam trains themselves. The festival will also host a range of craft workshops and a selection of discos after the bands finish. Festival goers can have unlimited rides on the steam railway over the weekend, as well as full access to other railway attractions including a farm and museum.
There are just two weeks left to pick up tickets at early bird discount prices. Weekend tickets are currently available at an early bird discount price of £55, and day tickets are available for £30. These prices are available until Friday 7 May.
