Alan Wilder and Paul Kendall’s audio visual performance is one does justice to the history of recoil. What else would you expect from a largely experimental ambient/electronic band (if indeed you could call it a band?).
Celebrating the release of the “Selected” album which itself is a sort of “Best Of” collection from Recoil’s past – there are no surprises in what tracks they may decide to play. And whilst this is the type of show where the crowd will be fairly static for the majority of it – the feast is for the eyes and the ears.
What you get is more of an art installation as opposed to just music performance – but Alan Wilder who is masterful in the electronic arts should be out there doing this more often. As much as we love the work he produces in the studio, and has collaborated with other artists – it would be nice to have this happen more often – and perhaps in a larger surrounding.
