Charlotte Gainsbourg – Time of the Assassins

The cult indie film queen, Charlotte Gainsbourg shows that diversity could well be her middle name. This is done as she falls into a dreamy, weaving acoustic ballad, ‘Time of the Assassins’. It’s one of the peaceful sounding, yet dark edged lyrical turns from her explorative and ranging album, ‘IRM’. Gainsbourg uses a comforting, but stern narrative to stretch out some mystery and yearning.

The ‘XXX Change Remix’, builds in a climbing 90s electro pop touch, as well as giving the vocals more of a hover. This is done in order to draw out the leading lady’s vim. Whereas, the ‘Outline Remix’, prefers more of a lounge lean, making for an easy going, chilled out vibe, as the vocals take a backseat. Gainsbourg, will, with this embracing foray, continue to add to her reputation as a serious and genuine independent performer.
