fun - All The Pretty Girls
Album Review

fun – All The Pretty Girls

The upbeat and yearning indie pop touch of The Thrills with a splash of that MIKA sprightliness, The Magic Numbers yearning edge and a The Beach Boys backdrop.

All this culminates in a saccharine spiked single, ‘All The Pretty Girls’. This is no doubt designed to switch on the publicity machines of the music media, in the run up to the release of this New York trio’s debut album.

All of the above does not distract from the fact that another style over content band is making its away across Atlantic, bringing yet more forced low key frivolity to our already bloated pop genre. However, there is a chink of light that comes through in the hovering and sincere speckle of blues vocal approach of Nate Rues. If this element has been built upon on and emboldened on the album, then it could even be more than just plain bearable.
