This weekend we braved a family barbeque. It wasn’t really warm enough to be sat outside but the fact it wasn’t raining and that summer is supposedly just around the corner we carried on regardless.
I guess that’s what many holiday makers this year will be doing judging by the news this morning. That Icelandic volcano is spewing its guts up again and has thrown airports all of the UK into turmoil. No foreign holidays for most it appears. I’m just pleased I went to Egypt in March and swerved all this ash mess!!
Britain’s tourism industry will be booming this year then surely, with more and more people choosing a “staycation” rather than hours and days sitting in an airport. Blackpool, Skegness and Cornwall will be heaving!
Although, I must admit, I am still slightly concerned about the point I made in last week’s editorial about bands travelling to play festivals over here. I’m thinking charter some boats now yeah? Especially with the festival season officially kicking off this week (according to Radio One), there’s The Big Weekend in Bangor next weekend and they have some pretty big names lined up for it and there is the brilliant Liverpool Sound City kicking off on Wednesday. I hope they make it over or festival season could be a wash out, in more ways than the weather!
Anyway, to brighten your day we have loads of awesome things on the site. We have interviews with Tiffany Page, The Swellers, The Xcerts and Anabor. We have new videos from MIA, Matisyahu and The Temper Trap and the chance to win tickets to see Tinchy Stryder, The Drums and the Hungry Pigeon Festival. On top of all this why don’t you get out there and see Kof, Hip Parade, Tinchy Stryder and Devil Sold His Soul?!
