Ian Curtis Honoured On Anniversary Of His Death

Ian Curtis' home town of Macclesfield is honouring the singer on the 30th anniversary of his death today.

Guides are taking Joy Division fans on tours of the Cheshire town, taking in Curtis' childhood home plus a number of pubs and clubs he frequented and performed in.

There will also be an exhibition in Macclesfield from July 10th, titled Unknown Pleasures, which will display photos, documents, memorabilia and rarities.

In another tribute, Curtis' Joy Division bandmate Peter Hook will be performing 'Unknown Pleasures' in its entirety at the Factory Records building tonight.

Curtis hanged himself in the kitchen of his house in Macclesfield on May 18th, 1980. He was just 23-years-old.
