Pete Doherty Added To Ibiza Rocks Line Up

For one night only, Pete Doherty will take centre stage in the Ibiza Rocks Bar on the beach in San Antonio for an intimate, sunset, acoustic set on Tuesday 1 June, to celebrate the start of another storming Ibiza Rocks summer season.

This one-off gig will take place the week before the official start of Ibiza Rocks 2010 which takes place at the Ibiza Rocks Hotel, with a stellar line up including Biffy Clyro, The Prodigy, Ian Brown, Dizzee Rascal and Florence and the Machine all set to wow the crowds with standout headline slots.

Pete Doherty was the man that helped make the Ibiza Rocks name when he brought his own unique blend of brilliance, chaos and controversy to the White Isle for a solo gig in 2005. It seems only fitting that he return to Ibiza Rocks’ original beachside bar location. In 2006 he surprised everyone by making his own way to Ibiza amidst a media storm and sticking to his word as he took to the stage with Babyshambles, stunned the crowd with a superb set, smashing up his guitar and half the bar in the process. It’s only Rock ‘n’ Roll.

It was Pete Doherty that took Ibiza Rocks outdoors, from the back room of club Manumission to the open-air stage of the (newly refurbished) Ibiza Rocks Bar on the beach…and Ibiza Rocks has never looked back. As seminal moment in music ensued and an array of groundbreaking gigs in the Bar followed from Arctic Monkeys, The Enemy and Kasabian, to name a few.

The Ibiza Rocks gigs may have made a permanent move to the Ibiza Rocks Hotel in 2008, but if there’s one man that can break the rules and push the boundaries yet again, it’s Mister Pete Doherty. Having recently reformed The Libertines for a highly anticipated performance at Reading and Leeds Festival, this Ibiza Rocks solo set will provide fans with a chance to see the original gentle indie giant, stripped down and sincere. It’s going to be emotional.
