Chew Lips, Dirty Vegas, Alex Metric, Drums of Death, Ou Est Le Swimming Pool and Scarlet Harlots are the latest acts to be confirmed for GlobalGathering and will play the festival’s Live Stage at the mammoth tenth anniversary event, 30-31 July in Stratford-Upon-Avon.
Relative newcomers to the festival scene, Chew Lips are tipped to be the next Florence and The Machine in terms of breakthrough artists. The band consist of lead singer Tigs, bassist Will and guitarist James and have been playing music together for just over two years. Compared by many to Hot Chip, the band’s style of electro-pop is tinged with Yeah Yeah Yeahs-esque soul that never fails to enthrall their audiences.
Grammy Award winners Dirty Vegas won Best Dance Recording in 2003 for their smash hit track Days Go By. The house trio had a three year hiatus from performing together, but are back, and recording new material. Recently they have played during the inauguration parties for President Obama and the 2009 Miami Winter Music Conference.
Alex Metric is one of the hottest talents of the year, but that’s only one string on a bow that also includes producer, performing musician and Radio 1 presenter. Combining an eclectic mix of indie-electro and anthemic rave, Alex is, by his own admission, heavily influenced by the first wave of French house including Cassius ad Daft Punk. He will be performing his live show at the festival.
The Live Stage is set to receive a make-over this year from LA-based and world-renowned festival art impresarios, The Do LaB. In what promises to be a defining year in GlobalGathering’s meteoric history, the festival organisers have invited the Californian production team to travel over from the States and create two landmark environments, similar in scale to recent showpieces at festivals such as Coachella and Burning Man.
Tinie Tempah has also been added to the stellar GlobalGathering line-up. Fresh off the back of supporting Chase and Status on their sell out UK tour and collaborating with musical genii Gorillaz, 2010 has already seen Tinie break into the mainstream with single Pass Out hit no. 1 in March and Tinie is now signed to Parlophone, with his debut major-label album due out in July. This rising star is set to take the Global crowd by storm, with his huge crossover in to the dubstep scene, he is a welcome addition to the tenth anniversary line-up.
