Rodrigo Y Gabriela Announce Tour

The unstoppable Mexican duo will be headlining the O2 Academy in June following an incredible performance at the White House this month. Rod & Gab have developed an extraordinary way of performing and playing together which has earned them worldwide status and kudos from the likes of Metallica…and Barack Obama! They will be rocking the O2 Academy prior to their festival appearances this summer.

Rodrigo y Gabriela played The White House in Washington DC (Wednesday 19th May 2010) for the President and Mrs. Obama and their guests the Mexican President Felipe Hinojosa and the First Lady of Mexico Margarita Zavala. This is only the second state dinner the Obama's have hosted at The White House and is another extraordinary achievement for the Mexican acoustic rockers who shared the stage on this occasion with Obama favourite Beyonce.

The intimate black tie gathering of around 200 guests was a dramatic contrast with Rod & Gab's recent sell out Radio City Music Hall gig to 6,000 raucous punters in NYC, which saw Robert Trujillo from Metallica guest. Drawing on material from their new album “11:11” and their previous self-titled long player, they rocked 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue in their own inimitable fashion.

This exclusive by-invitation-only performance comes at the end of Rod & Gab's current US tour and happily coincides with the news that global sales for their record releases to date have just topped one million albums worldwide, a remarkable achievement for the duo, their management and network of label licensing partners.

Rodrigo y Gabriela's latest studio album'11:11', is their personal tribute to eleven musicians or bands who have inspired them along their musical journey, ranging from household names like Pink Floyd and Jimi Hendrix to personal favourites such as Le Trio Joubran and Michel Camilo. The album was produced by Rodrigo (with co-production by John Leckie on one track) and mixed by Colin Richardson (Slipknot, Trivium).

Rodrigo y Gabriela are now taking a short, well-earned break to cheer Mexico on in the World Cup, before returning to Europe for festival shows at the end of June.
