Sure enough, musicians can create some pretty creative sounds using samples and the like but what takes commitment is not just taking these samples and putting them into your music, but recreating them all from scratch. Not only can it be said about the album cover but Javelin certainly create a corker of an album.
Certainly listening throughout the record, there’s an ecleptic and diverse mixture of sounds. Opener ‘Vibrationz’ for example is on the border between gentle American R n B sounds with a little hint of a smooth and easy element to it.
The album has moments of, in my opinion, genius. The quirky ‘Oh! Centra’ for example is an 8bit/hip hop with catchy and cute basslines. It also manages to include the memorable bassline of Salt n Peppa’s ‘Push It’ which didn’t fail to put a big smile on my face.
Song’s such as ‘Tell Me What It Will Be’ or ‘Shadow Heart’ has that sort of 60’s soul sound to it. Think Marvin Gaye and add a dark side to him. ‘Moscow 1980’ is spectacular in that it sounds like you are being transported to space with its oscilatting electronic noises.
‘No Mas’ is an album that will get your ears pricked up. The array of fantastic songs in the album make it one must listen album.
