I first heard about these boys when they were interviewed on BBC Radio 1, during the interview slightly skeptical about how such a band could do so many covers and be so suddenly popular in various countries without any of their own material. I then heard the music…..It bought something so unique with one fantastic track after another on their ‘Strike!’ album.
Hailing from Berlin, The Baseballs have merged rock ‘n’ roll with current music, covering tracks from the likes of Katy Perry, Usher and The Plain White Tees….only to name a few.
What shouldn’t on paper work, is perhaps the formula the chart is missing at the moment. Catchy, upbeat and a new version instead of a generic cover, The Baseballs have certainly made these tunes their own.
Already having a hit with their version of Rhianna’s track ‘Umbrella’ the boys have certainly bought the 1950’s to modern day.
Whether they will always do covers in the future who knows, but this has rock n’ roll stamped all over it and a definite must have for all CD collections.
