It would be an understatement to say that 2010 has already been a landmark year for Twin Atlantic. From a triumphant hometown show selling out the 1250-capacity Glasgow ABC, to a European stint with Enter Shikari and culminating an epic US tour, Twin Atlantic have already hit 17 countries this year and are becoming a truly world-beating band.
This summer will see the band playing their biggest shows yet: not only have they been personally invited to support The Gaslight Anthem on their UK tour (including stops at Glasgow Academy on 23 June and Brixton Academy on 29 June), but they have just been announced as support to blink-182 on their UK dates in Aberdeen, Glasgow and Dublin.
Sam McTrusty (vocals, guitar) said, “I think it's fair to say we are pretty shocked but really excited to
have been picked to support blink-182 this summer. Like most rock fans who were 13 in 1999, I was a massive fan of the band and I grew up with them being a soundtrack to pretty much everything thereafter. At the risk of sounding cheesy but being completely honest it is a little bit of a dream come true scenario.”
Twin Atlantic will also be appearing at a string of festivals across Europe this summer, including the main stage of Rockness on 13 June, the main stage of the 2000 Trees festival on 17 July, and headlining the Red Bull Bedroom Jam stage of the Hevy Festival on 7 August.
As a gift to fans, and to celebrate their massive summer shows, an exclusive Innerpartysystem remix of the ‘Vivarium’ mini-album track live favorite ‘Human After All’ plus a brand new video will be available to download from 21 June.
The band also filmed a documentary for Scuzz TV in New York on their first US tour with Fall of Troy and Envy on the Coast. The hour-long show includes live footage of their show in Irving Plaza, and will first be broadcast on Scuzz TV in June.
