Adam Lambert has promised that his US Glam Nation Tour will be safe for anyone offended by his performance of “For Your Entertainment” at the 2009 American Music Awards. He’s also hinted that he’d like to bring the tour, in some form, to the UK later in the year.
“I definitely think they'll be comfortable. That was kind of an artistic experiment, the AMAs. I learned a lot from it. I learned what my limitations are. I learned what my audience wants to see. The Glam Nation concert definitely is sexy, but I feel if anyone thought the AMA performance was not tasteful, this is tasteful.”
Lambert told Billboard.com right before his tour kicked off earlier this month in Wilkes-Barre, Pa.
He went on to say his show is “visually inspired by turn-of-the-century New Orleans…a kitschy, glam, voodoo, crystal ball, black magic kind of look with a lot of psychedelic, classic rock visual references. Jimi Hendrix, Jim Morrison, Keith Richards — those are the people who have inspired the look and the feel of the show. I had fun with the projectionist and my costume designer and…the show has its own little world.”
Lambert also talks about the theme running from beginning to end of each concert.
“From the top of the show I'm inviting the audience to take a journey with me into this emotional and thematic world. At the beginning it's more about seduction, venturing into the unknown and taking chances — mystery and intrigue and sexiness. The midpoint of the show really explores heartbreak and vulnerability and honesty, and then the latter half of the show is celebration and joy and love and connection.”
Lambert also promised “a surprise cover or two,” as well as a mid-show acoustic section that he said “will vary from night to night, week to week.”
He also hinted at bringing a version of his Glam Nation Tour to the UK in the Autumn to several UK publications.
'We're coming to the UK in the Fall. I don't know if it's going to be the same show. We're trying to play in spaces that are more intimate.'
Adam releases his new single “Whataya Want from Me” on July 19th. Written by P!nk and Max Martin, this epic worldwide smash has already topped the charts the globe over including top 10 in the US (platinum sales), number 1 in Canada (double platinum sales) and number 1 in Asia, Germany and Finland. The video was directed by Diane Martel (Alicia, Britney Spears, The Killers).
In fact, on her current European tour, P!nk just couldn’t resist giving fans a sneak at what it would’ve sounded like had she recorded the song herself.
