Plugged In Experience At Rockness Was A Success

With over 1,500 pairs of legs pedalling their way to a fruitily healthy smoothie, nearly 2,000 revellers coming face to face with their musical heroes and over 1,000 mobiles successfully charged with our eco-friendly phone centre, Scottish Hydro’s ‘plugged in experience’ at Rockness has helped make sure that no-one lost touch with their friends and have some healthy fun at the same time.

Home to the festival’s official signing tent, the plugged in experience was packed with thousands of fans over the weekend, all excited at the prospect of getting up close to their heroes. Plan B’s signing session had screams the like of which hadn’t been heard since the last sighting of Nessie! Enter Shikari’s spot in the tent saw some fans staking their place at the front of the queue well over an hour before the band was due to arrive, while the Cuban Brothers rocked the plugged in experience like it had never been rocked before with an impromptu beat-boxing tag match and Scotland’s finest, Kevin Bridges, who drew a record breaking number of fans, led the crowds through the field for another legendary signing session in the plugged in tent.

Plugged in’s chill-out area, with its massive beanbags and eco phone charger facility proved to be the perfect way to catch-up with friends old and new with over 10,000 visitors enjoying the chance to recharge their own batteries as well as their phones! The pedal-powered smoothie maker was a massive hit with festival-goers young and old providing the revellers’ legs and lungs with a good workout, and rewarding them with over 1,500 cups of summer fruit and berry goodness at the end of their session.

Jonny Petrie from Scottish Hydro is delighted with the success of the plugged in experience at Rockness: “It’s brilliant that we’ve had so many festival fans come along to sample the plugged in experience this weekend at Rockness. Plugged in is all about giving local communities the chance to get a closer look at the music industry, as well as offering some really fun ways to being green at a festival and we’re delighted that so many people have enjoyed themselves this weekend at the plugged in experience.”
