The “3D world Created by Sony” on Nelson Mandela Square in Sandton, Johannesburg, will host South African Supergroup, The Parlotones Live in concert in 3D for the first time on 1st July made possible by Sony Entertainment Television.
The Parlotones are known for their electric, polished stage performances delivered against the backdrop of their deftly crafted and darkly romantic lyrics. Their sound, of Muse, Radiohead and the Smiths, has evolved substantially becoming more refined and focused with each album. The band experiment sonically with their sound and various structures are utilised in their songs, including the typical Doo-Wop cycle or traditional Folk structure. The Parlotones are the biggest selling rock band in South African history !
The band have received a vast number of acknowledgements which include: South African Music Awards, MK Awards and are spokespersons for both Live Earth and Earth Hour along with Bishop Desmond Tutu, Prince
Charles and Rihanna. The band also gives of their time for social investment projects which include The Starfish Foundation and Children’s Charities.
The Parlotones recent performance for the 2010 FIFA World Cup™ “Kick-Off” opening concert at the Orlando Stadium in Soweto, saw them play to a global audience in excess of 1 billion.
The Parlotones are currently touring across Europe playing festivals and events in both Germany and the UK. The campaign included the bands official introduction to their own wine brand “Giant Mistake” exclusively via Kaufhof, PLUS radio, TV, Press, Online and Live performances which will certainly wow the German audiences.
The bands festival activity over the summer will cover a wealth of European Territories including UK, Germany, Switzerland and Luxembourg. This will be in support of the worldwide release of the bands current album Stardust Galaxies. The band will return to Europe in the Autumn with extensive tours of Germany, UK, France, The Netherlands, Scandinavia and Italy.

The 3D world will be open to all visitors from 9 June to 12 July, from 10am to 10pm – Free to all visitors.
