Kid Adrift - OXYTOCIN
Album Review

Kid Adrift – OXYTOCIN

The influence and impact of Pendulum and the Deftones is cobbled together, producing an audio spectacle of bass, dance and rock. This cocky conglomeration of sounds makes for the adventurous and energetic, ‘Oxytocin’.

Kid Adrift uses his philistine approach to make a shuddering impact before instilling a gripping, paranoid touch containing an operatic backing vocal element, inclusive in a bracing moment that gives the energy that then follows again, extra impact and bite.

As debut EPs go, this is a bold, ranging and digitally intoned exploration. ‘Crash Therapy’ is instilled with more body and soul, as clarity is given to the vocals and a more altogether atmospheric vibe , renders the ranging number a thriller movie soundtrack compiler’s dream.

Starkly echoing femme vocals that sound a little like Heather Small is helping them out, lends some hovering heart and confident warmth to ‘Static’.

Harrowing synths pushed instrumentals lend a chilling coat to a bracing effort. The brains behind the outfit, Iain Archer is shaping up to provide dance-rock with some freshness and drive.
