Gym Class Heroes front man – Travie McCoy releases his debut solo album LAZARUS on August 9 via Atlantic Records/Decaydance/Fueled By Ramen. The first single to be lifted from this set will be the US no.1 smash hit single, ‘Billionaire’, out in the UK on July 26. The track features label mate Bruno Mars who also lent his voice to B.O.B’s global smash – ‘Nothin On You’.
The new single, ‘Billionaire’ is enjoying strong support from Radio 1. This includes a Record Of The Week on Scott Mills show whilst the accompanying video is a VIP Track Of The Week at The Box and is play listed there as well as at 4Music, Kiss, Q, and Smash Hits TV.
Known far and wide as part of alternative Hip-Hop superstars Gym Class Heroes, McCoy’s solo debut sees him teaming up with a diverse roster of talent for a genre-busting, groundbreaking new collection. Among the contributing producers, writers, and artists are Cee Lo Green, T-Pain, Bruno Mars and the Smeezingtons (B.o.B, Cobra Starship, Flo Rida), Colin Munroe, Young Cash, Tim William, Detail (Akon, Lady Gaga), The Stereotypes (Ne-Yo, Mary J. Blige), Evan “Kidd” Bogart (Adam Lambert, Beyonce), and Josh Abraham (Velvet Revolver, 30 Seconds To Mars), Oligee (Flo Rida, Leighton Meester) & Lucas Secon (Pixie Lott, Sean Paul, The Cab).
This summer, McCoy joins Rihanna on her hugely anticipated Last Girl On Earth Tour (United States) set to hit the road on July 2. The trek also features special guest Ke$ha. This comes just after he recently wrapped up his first-ever solo tour accompanying Photo Finish recording duo 3OH!3 and Decaydance/Fueled By Ramen label mates Cobra Starship on the epic “Too Fast For Love” tour, presented by MTV.
McCoy first achieved international stardom in 2006 with Gym Class Heroes’ RIAA gold certified AS CRUEL AS SCHOOL CHILDREN. It spawned the phenomenal US number 1 hit single, ‘Cupid’s Chokehold/Breakfast In America’, which stormed the UK chart at number 3 residing in the top 40 for four months selling well over 200K as well as the top 5 single ‘Clothes Off’. The following year saw Gym Class Heroes named “Best New Artist” at the 2007 MTV Video Music Awards. THE QUILT released in 2008, earned critical praise for its unique collaborations with such diverse stars as Busta Rhymes, Estelle, The-Dream, and Daryl Hall.
McCoy and Gym Class Heroes are currently writing a new album, due out next year.
