We are very excited to announce brand-new additions to Berlin Festiva l's line-up which will take place at Tempelhof Airport on the 10th and 11th September. Alongside already confirmed acts like Editors, Fever Ray, LCD Soundsystem, Atari Teenage Riot, Boys Noize and 2manydjs (live), even more highlights will join us for a fantastic weekend on historical grounds. Fatboy Slim's only festival appearance in Germany can only be described as sensational. The DJ mastermind, known to many under the name Norman Cook, is an admitted Berlin fan, and he's looking forward to some decent club atmosphere in our hangar no. 4 among acts such as 2manydjs and Erol Alkan.
Since Berlin Festival is gathering old heroes together with uprising acts like never before, we are all the more excited to welcome a bunch of promising newcomers from all over the world at Tempelhof Airport. Many of them were carefully picked out of numerous offers together with Popkomm and export offices. Besides already confirmed show cases by Spleen United (Denmark), Jesse (Finland), and The Megaphonic Thrift (Norway), acts like De Staat (Netherlands), Cast of Cheers (Ireland), Therese Aune (Norway), Boemklatsch (Netherlands), Yes Cadets (Ireland), and Rich Aucoin (Canada) join our festival line-up. Only two more show case slots need to be filled in the next few weeks. Tomas Hoffding's first Berlin live performance will be intrig uing also. To many known as WhoMadeWho's bass player and songwriter, he will introduce his solo project Bon Homme. Another fantastic hotshot-to-be is Fang Island, a band that basically sounds like the bastard prog rock child of Yes and Axl Rose arranging the Alf theme anew. Unfortunately we have to announce that the wonderful Why? cancelled their Berlin Festival gig. Shadow Dancer will take over the part of D.I.M. at the Boys-Noize-night. And Kimono from Island have just been added to the bill.
What else besides music? Berlin Festival has a lot going for it. For instance, our Berlin Design & Record Label Market is taking shape. Labels like Morr Music, Sinnbus and City Slang, which is also curating its own stage, will present in-house products and merchandise. The legendary Mobile Disko will be back in an even better form with, amongst others, the boys from Berlin Battery. On our website , numerous hotel options have already been listed as well as Berlin tips for visitors and discount offers for Berlin Festival goers, e.g. bike renting options.
Speaking of discounts: Popkomm Showcase Festival takes place on 8th and 9th September at and around Tempelhof Airport. Festival goers will be able to see thrilling up and coming talents for free to ring in the actual festival. Wristband exchange, therefore, already begins on Wednesday, 8th September, at Tempelhof's entrance hall, Berlin Musik Week's hub, which will be open to all from 8th to 11th September.
Sun – Official Berlin Festival Tune von Caribou
Berlin Festival was gifted with a lovely tune! We are well excited since the song comes in fact from one of our City Slang stage acts: Caribou. The band's wonderful song “Sun” enchanted us and swept us off our feet, so we decided to get in the right festival mood with it. In co-operation with City Slang, you are now able to download Caribou's musical gem for free and ring in Berlin Festival 2010 with the perfect soundtrack in your ear.
